Training

We offer a limited amount * of training with the sale of a llama.  In addition to the basics that we offer some enhanced training.

A trained llama is much easier to handle and work with.  Being able to load your llama in a vehicle will open a whole new world for you and your llama! Packing trips, fairs and other wonderful outings are available to trained llamas (and their owners.)

Training is usually conducted at your ranch in familiar surroundings.  Each session is usually limited to one (1) hour.  It usually helps to have multiple llamas being trained at the same time.  They like to imitate one another.  Charges are per instructor's time not per llama. 

Most training involves your participation so you will be able to reinforce the proper behavior and continue your llama's training on your own.

* Halter & Lead Training - $25/hr
Basic training to accept the halter and follow on the lead rope around the ranch.  

* Loading - $25/hr
Trained to load into your trailer, van or whatever.

Desensitization - $30/hr
Males like to play by biting each other's legs.  This makes them very sensitive to anyone or anything touching their legs and handling their feet.  This training helps them become comfortable with you touching them.

Obstacle Course - $30/hr
Llamas are curious by nature and enjoy doing new things.  An obstacle course helps build the trust needed between you and your llama to get out and explore new things.

Packing - $40/hr
This training gets you and your llama used to the saddle and panniers and toughened up to face the challenges on the trail.  This is a go out and do it training course.
