About Us

Bev and Barney McClung bought their first llama, the stud Sizzlin' Café au Lait, in July of 1994 from Lora Crawford, owner of the Lora’s Llama Ranch in Turlock, California.  They soon added Stormy, Elizabeth Jane, Inka Dinka, Sizzlin' Joe and Sizzlin' Wind-E-O to their herd.  They have also had a number of llamas born on the ranch, Duncan, Katie, Eddie, Fiona, Sarah, Freddie, Vicar, Dougal, Jamie, Liam, Malcolm, Shawn and OrielBuddy, Pierre, Rockette and Jasmine started out as boarders and eventually became permanent members of the herd.

Bev has wanted llamas since she was a little girl. Barney spent a few formative years growing-up in Northeast Texas in the heart of cattle country and wanted to own a little farm.  Thus was the motivation to start a llama farm.  Bev and Barney love to take their llamas for hikes, and though they love to talk about the llamas, they are even more excited to go traveling with them.

Farm Animals

Betsy & NickyIn addition to llamas we raise some unique breeds of chickens and ducks.  We also share the farm with our two Bichon Frise dogs and the barn cats.  Then there are the myriad of nesting wild birds, squirrels and other wild creatures that call the farm home.

Our philosophy is to employ sympathetic and synergistic methods of pest control by using the chickens and ducks to control insects instead of harmful chemicals.  The wild birds act as sentinels for a variety of diseases such as the West Nile Virus.

We are currently living in Sacramento and are no longer on the farm.  Our llamas are boarding on a large llama ranch in Marysville and we go play with them as often as we can.

We are still excited to talk about llamas and enjoy activities with them.  As the economy continues to improve, we'll be back on a farm soon!

While we still have our day jobs, the farm is a major part of our lives.
